Thanks Skid, Kiwi Kia, Jimbo, Uncle, T.Ribby, Wetty, Snailbait, Damian, Ray Jen, Robin, Andy amd Michelle for giving a "newey" your insight into UHF handhelds.
I took a little of everybodies advice and bought a Uniden kit with a 5 watt incar UHF and a 2 watt hand held. The "in car" is being fitted today. The hand held takes standard rechargable AA bateries. Thanks for that piece of guidance re manufacturers special
power packs that cost lots to replace - that is one that I would have dummied into.
